Default Word 2010 TOC modification

Category: Word: Properties & Formatting

Using Windows 10, Office 2010, I have a large document with a long TOC. I need to have some tittles , in the TOC, indifferent font size and colors. My TOC is made up of Styles Heading 1, 2 and 3.
When I attempt to make those adjustment to the TOC, and click for an update, all the adjustments revert back to the original.
This what it looks like now:
APPETIZERS……………………………………………………………………………………………………34
BAKED…………………………………………………………………………………………………………….34
PARTY LOAF……………………………………………………………………………………………………34
PIGS IN A PONCHO……………………………………………………………………………………… .35
HOT SPINACH………………………………………………………………………………………………..35
This what I want it to look like:
APPETIZERS……………………………………………………………………………… 34
BAKED…………………………………………………………………………………………………….34
PARTY LOAF……………………………………………………………………………………………………34
PIGS IN A PONCHO……………………………………………………………………………………… .35
HOT SPINACH………………………………………………………………………………………………..35
Can this be done or is it beyond Word 2010? If so, how? Thanks, eddie460
