Default Outlook 2007: "Save As" creates folders

------ Register to get rid of these "In Post" ads! ------

Greetings,

In Outlook 2003 when I wanted to save an email I'd do a "Save As" HTML and
Outlook would save the email in a nice little HTML file.
'Original Source: The Code Cage Forums http://www.thecodecage.com/forumz/outlook-functions/39544-outlook-2007-save-creates-folders.html#post142459

In Outlook 2007 when I do the same workflow Outlook creates an HTML file,
which is great, but also adds a folder with several objects inside that
folder.

Is it possible to ask Outlook to only save an HTML file without the extra
folder?

Thanks!

Matt

n into the same problem. The only "fix" i can find is to simply save the
files as .txt files. Then the additional folders are not present.

Thanks for your reply,

Yes it is a nuisance! I do save a .txt, but of course you miss out on the
formatting, which sometimes is useful to have as a record.

Outlook 03 = no extra folders
Outlook 07 = extra folders

Why?? argh!

Another option is to use a pdf creating program (ie PDF Creator) which acts
as a printer. When the email is open simply click print, select the PDF
printer and make a pdf. The files are slightly larger but you get an exact

image and most everyone can open a pdf just as they can an HTML or txt file.

technical details, no, but it has to do with how office and IE save complete webpages. if you use the mht format it will be one file.
